What are the Differences Between SculpSure and CoolSculpting?

If you’re looking to remove stubborn fat without surgery, you may have discovered two viable options: SculpSure and CoolSculpting. Both work in a similar fashion and use the same type of laser to shrink the fat. However, you’ll find that patients and doctors prefer one method over the other. Which one should you choose? Read on to learn more about these two methods of fat removal and how they differ.

SculpSure and CoolSculpting: What to Know

Both of these procedures are non-invasive and require no anesthesia. They are approved by FDA and proven effective for removing fat from various areas of the body. They remove similar amounts of fat and patients both report high satisfaction rates.

There are some differences, however. With CoolSculpting, the fat needs to be drawn into the cooling apparatus. With SculpSure, the applicators are placed on top of the skin. CoolSculpting relies more on vacuum suction, which means pain and marking for these patients. In fact, the pain can be so intense that the patients have to take narcotics.

Patients and doctors tend to prefer SculpSure for various reasons. SculpSure results in less pain and bruising. CoolSculpting patients tend to feel frozen and stiff after the procedure. They also tend to experience numbness and pain in the nerves for a temporary period.

The SculpSure treatment time is also shorter. CoolSculpting can sometimes take four times as long as SculpSure to treat the same area. Along the same line, SculpSure can treat up to four areas at once, with CoolSculpting able to treat only one area.
